Wailing is not Whining

Wailing is not whining.

In the sea of hatred I sail

I hear people hating on

Whiners the most, but oftentimes

The wailing, mourning folk

Get mixed into the whiners.

Wailing —

Is not whining.

Whining— is what you do when you stubbed your toe.

Wailing— is what you do when someone kills your son.

Whining— is what you do when you wish you had something.

Wailing— is what you do when you’ve lost it all.

Whining— is when you skipped lunch.

Wailing— is what you do when someone or something hurts you

In a profound way

People say they hate whiners

They say they hate complaining

They say they hate emotions and

They say they hate crybabies but

What they really hate

Is when you tell them to

Acknowledge your perspective

Instead of just blaming you

For “your own problems”

I don’t really want to live in this world

Full of whiners

All complaining about those who wail

Who ignore the reasons to cry

Who hold it all in and “act tough”

“Be strong”

So hard and callous that they never even acknowledge

How much strength it takes to wail.
